It doesn’t really feel like summer until you’ve had some ice cream, right? Well, I’m sure you’ve all had a cone or two during this early summer we’ve been having, but we thought we’d share a few favourite spots for grabbing a frosty cone.

Putters Mini Golf

While you might be heading there for a heated round of mini golf with friends or family, you’d have to agree that the best part about visiting Putter’s is the ice cream! They probably have the largest selection of hard ice cream in town, plus they offer soft serve ice cream, dipped cones, waffle cones, gluten-free cones, and even SCREAMERS (soft vanilla ice cream in a slushie!). Screamers are legendary (does anyone remember Villa Esso?), and you can’t always find them everywhere, so when you do, you have to order one. Or so I’ve been told.

The Beach Hut

Probably more well known for their fish & chips and burgers, the Beach Hut also has some stellar ice cream options. They have plenty of hard ice cream flavours to choose from, plus soft serve in vanilla and chocolate. You can even get the famous half and half soft serve, or get it dipped in chocolate, if you have a super sweet tooth. The bonus of getting your ice cream here, is you are already at the beach, and can take a stroll along Willingdon or sit on the swings to enjoy your treat.

Sassymack’s

Located beside Nancy’s Bakery in Lund, they are open 7 days a week from 12-6pm during the summer. All their ice cream is homemade–and with flavours like balsamic strawberry, toasted coconut, chai, and salty chocolate caramel–it’s hard to turn down a scoop on a hot day.

Of course, there are other places you can find sweet, cold treats, too. There’s always your favourite grocery or corner store–and if you’re lucky, the ice cream truck will stop by your neighbourhood, notifying you with it’s unforgettable tune.

We hope you’re enjoying your summer, and occasionally treating yourself to a tasty treat every now and again!
