Powtown Post is even more ecstatic than the dude in the photo below, because we get to introduce another new contributor. He’s PR Cycling Association President and 20-year health care industry professional Brendan Behan.

Years of negotiation, meetings and applications. Then at last, after the approval, came designing, digging and finally shaping. AND NOW: The Bike and Skate Park is finally going to be open.

There are expected to be some special guests (big riders) but everyone is invited— this is a family park designed to be used by all skill levels.

Things are sweeter than could ever have been expected with jumps, ramps, wall rides, fun boxes, lifts, lips and landings, transitions, and pump tracks (yes TWO of them) including the First Ever Concrete Poured Pump Track in North America.

This is big.  Truly a centrepiece for the community of Powell River and Powell River Cycling Association played a pivotal role throughout various pieces of the process. We are so thankful for all the support including City Council, The City of Powell River but especially Powell River Community Forest, the major funder for the entire project.

The party is from 12 noon until 3 pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 with the official ceremony beginning at 1:00 pm on Saturday. Parking is expected to be a bit of a challenge and part of the ring road around the complex will be closed off, so plan to ride if you can, and come early, at 11-11:30.

PRCA will have a booth (among many) for the day, come by and say hello, re-new or sign up for the first time (and get entered in a draw for a GoPro Hero 4) for your membership so we can continue to do awesome things like this.

Hope to see you there!

AND OF COURSE, BRING YOUR BIKE!
