Final Fling Dragon Boat Festival
The Final Fling is a windup paddle festival for Dragon Boat teams on the Sunshine Coast. It includes teams from Gibsons all the way up to Powell River.
If you’re unfamiliar with dragon boating, paddlers sit two-abreast in the boat with a steers person who acts as a rudder at the rear and a drummer at the front.
It should be a interesting event for spectating with several teams competing in a 350-metre long race course (elite race courses can be up to a kilometre or two in length). A great place to watch the races are from the grassy area in Mowat Bay, so you can clearly see the finish line.
