Found + Foraged: a new web-series about all things wild and edible in beautiful BC
Found + Foraged was an idea filmmaker Deborah Burns Johnson (my sister) came up with, somewhat based on my hobby of foraging for things like wild medicinal mushrooms and forest greens in my ‘backyard’ of Bowen Island. When Deb pitched the idea to me late last Summer, it was a resounding “Yes!” So when we entered and won the first round of Telus’ Storyhive Competition, we were thrilled to be able to make our little dream a reality. The pilot (shown above) is now complete. It was filmed in January in the Cowichan Bay area and is currently in the second round of competition. We are relying heavily on votes from friends, family and our communities of Powell River, Bowen Island and Vancouver.

More about the show
Each show we will explore wild edible food in BC with host Lisa Marie Bhattacharya (formerly Whitaker). She will be joined by foraging experts from different areas of experience such as botany, ecology, culinary and nutrition.
In each episode they will travel to a new West Coast location; visiting tidal pools, beaches, rivers, forests, meadows, urban streets and even your own back yard. They will scout safe edible food sources in our midst. They will also explore ecological etiquette and responsible harvesting as well as learn about new technologies (yes, there is an app for that!), equipment and gear. Additionally they’ll offer tips on nutrition, cooking and how to preserve our foraged harvest.
