Powtown Post readers, you’re gonna love this one. Our newest author Angie Davey wants to know what adventures you want to see her and her husband try, and she’ll write about them here on the Powtown Post. Please give Angie a warm welcome and leave your suggestions for fun activities on the comments.

Victoria is a vibrant city. Rich in history and diverse cultures, it’s a jewel where it’s near impossible to find nothing to do. But with all its charm, not once in 18 years as a Victoria resident did I feel part of a community. That is not to say I don’t smile when I think of my time there, because I do, but I found my home and my community when I moved to Powell River seven years ago. Through work and volunteering, my husband Bob and I were quickly embraced. Here, we have time to relax and be as busy as we like. Every new season holds promise.

At this time of year, we’re filled with glee to see the garlic and chives spring to life in our small garden, along with the peach tree as it blooms along the side of our Townsite house. It’s been a very mild winter this year, as if spring started a month early.

We’re looking ahead to our favourite springtime activities, like Trash Bash and the Marathon Shuffle, occurring back-to-back for one invigorating weekend at the end of April.

These days though as we enjoy a day off together, we’ve started hunting for our outfits for radio station CJMP’s annual People’s Prom on April 4. This year, the theme is SPACE and I’m building my alien costume around my beloved purple wig.

So I ask you—  What kind of activities would you like to see us get up to and photograph over the next year? I’m no daredevil but sometimes I surprise even myself.

No strangers to fun, these two.

No strangers to fun, these two.

Powell River’s a place not just to visit, not just a place to hang your hat, it’s a place to experience. Let’s do it! Oh, the places we’ll go!

I love Powell River, especially my neighbourhood of Townsite. I've built the life I've always wanted here and it's filled with good friends, meaningful work, and fun. Originally from Vancouver Island, I believe home is where the heart is and Powell River is home.
