1. Sunshine in January

Well, we all know that Powell River can be a little dreary in the winter months. A trip away to somewhere nice and warm like Mexico or Hawaii can be a wonderful way to avoid some of those damp days. With international flights leaving from Comox now, it’s easy to hop a flight and be basking in the sun in a few hours.

2. Culture

Vancouver has a lot of great events happening at all different times of the year, and a quick trip to the city can be a lot of fun. Take in a play, or a concert, or the opera, whatever you enjoy.

3. Sports

A trip to the city for a sports event is a great way to get together with friends. You can choose to go to a professional hockey or soccer game or participate in a sporting event of your own. Try out one of the ski mountains in our beautiful province, or a new golf course depending on the season.

4. Visiting friends or family

Take a trip to visit some of your relatives outside of Powell River. I’m sure that they’ll be glad to see you, but be warned that you will have to return the favour when they want to come to Powell River. And I know they will, probably in July.

5. International travel

I know Powell River is a beautiful place, but there are other amazing places to see out there. I prefer to do my traveling in the winter months because it’s just too nice to leave here in the summer.

6. Food

While there are a lot of terrific restaurants in Powtown, it’s always nice to try something new. Half of the fun of going somewhere is trying out the restaurants where the locals go.

So, whatever your reason for leaving Powell River, I know that when you go away, you are always happy to be back. Take a little trip away and you will appreciate home even more!
