A Sunday morning family hike up Scout Mountain
This past weekend, our whole family, including the three founders of this website, were gathered together to celebrate the life of our grandfather, Paddy Behan.
Although it was under difficult circumstances, it was absolutely wonderful to see everyone–including aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts and uncles, second cousins, third cousins, and many more. We have a family that makes up a large portion of the population of Powell River, so if you don’t know any of us, well, I’m going to assume you are new to town.
Most of the weekend was quite busy with family get-togethers, dinners, and lunches, but our family found some time on Sunday morning to get outside, and for some, sweat out some of the toxins consumed the night before.
My parents have done the Scout Mountain hike a few times before, and wanted to show us ‘kids’ what it was like. So we packed up some water, sandwiches, and homemade energy balls, and set off on our way to Wildwood.
And what a hike it was.
It was so nice to get outside, get some crisp, fresh air in the lungs, have some family bonding time–and even get along!
I am actually surprised it has taken us this long to get up there! It took us less than an hour to hike up, and even less than that to make it down, so it’s a decent hike that won’t take you all day.
If you haven’t done it yet yourself, get out there and get hiking–it’s good for the soul.
