Five things to do this weekend in Powell River (February 12-14, 2016)
Love is in the air… or is that just allergies?
Couples, polyamourous groupings, and monoamourous singles, sync your watches and your schedules. It’s time to be romantic. This weekend, Valentine’s Day is upon us.
If your loved one(s) are looking at you blankly, because you’re the “planner” in the relationship, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. The following is a list of some must-dos around the region to reveal your intrepid heart.
Felt Art Workshop
The always-awesome Powell River Library has invited Amber Friedman, the award-winning fabric artist, to guide participants through an afternoon of maker fun. 2 – 3:30pm, at the Rec Complex. To register, call 604-485-8664.
Eat out
Practice your PDAs (public displays of affection) so you can romp at a restaurant this Valentine’s Day. The Boardwalk, The Shinglemill and The Tree Frog are offering Valentine’s specials—among other restos. Reserve early!
Eat in
Rene’s Pasta is whipping up some crazy love desserts, including chocolate covered strawberries. Plus, take a pasta dish home so you can avoid other diners’ PDAs. Just sayin’.
The Wiz
You’re off to see the Wizard, live, and with music – 7pm February 11 to 13, and 1 pm on the 14th, at the Evergreen Theatre. Children 12 and under $10, and adults, $15.
Songs for Valentine’s Day
“This month,” the folks at Cranberry Community Hall’s song circle wrote, “we decided that LOVE (never ending, new, faded, lost, unrequited, puppy, true or any other type) will be our theme.” Bring your guitar and your Kleenexes to 6828 Cranberry Street at 2pm for the participatory event, February 14.
• Note: if you haven’t had enough togetherness this weekend, Monday is a SD47 Pro-D/curriculum day. Woot!
