The fledgling (sorry for the pun, we couldn’t help ourselves!) Powell River Orphaned Wildlife Society is looking for new members.

PROWLS, started by Merilee Prior, rescues injured birds. Known as Powell River’s “bird lady”, she cares for many of them in her home, and Westview Veterinary Clinic provides all wild bird services free of charge. Last year, PROWLS rescued 181 birds, from pygmy owls, to bald eagles.

Now, Merilee is hoping you can help build and mend cages, writing grants, sewing curtains and much more. She’s also looking for donations and grants.

Want to get involved? Call Merilee at 604-483-9787, or visit theĀ Facebook page.
